My inspiration is the force of music as expressed through bodies in movement, in emotions, in interactions among the crowd and with the energies circulating around the environment.
Born in 1954, year of the birth of rock and roll, I grew up immersed in the high energy music of my hometown Detroit. This loud, physical, emotional music took hold and became a part of me.
In 1977 I graduated from art school and joined in the projects of my friends Destroy All Monsters. They formed a new band initiated by Cary Loren with avant-garde musicians Benjamin and Larry Miller and femme fatale chanteuse Niagara. Destroy All Monsters became the emblematic Detroit punk band.
A rock-and-art punk underground developed. In this creative community, I formed my personal vision: active, graphic, intimate, joyful and trash… My early photographs have been exhibited around the world, notably at the Rencontres d’Arles Festival in 2010.
In this 21st century I have been pursuing personal fine art work in the extensive underground music scenes of Paris – the environment that continues to inspire me.
Since 2015 I am participating in the French academic study PIND (punk is not dead) as a witness-member of punk scenes, doing visual research and conferences.
